I get taken care of very well here and in Portland VA. The people that the VA has hired to staff their facilities are on point. I get treated with respect EVERY time.

I use this pharmacy often as I choose not to have my prescriptions mailed to me. The people that work here are very friendly and do their very best to help out the vets. It is unfortunate that a lot of veterans donβt understand why thereβs an issue with a prescription and they take it out on the poor people behind the counter. It is more often than not the mistake was made by the veteran. I have had no issues and I really appreciate how friendly the people are and how helpful as well.

There are a lot of staff here that really do their best for veterans! But some are clueless about trauma informed care. Others ignore important details or dont care about Veterans.

One of he bus drivers was picking someone up in a parking lot where me and a friend were also driving through. The bus started to back up very quickly and haphazardly without even looking almost slamming into my friend's car. She laid on her horn and to quickly throw her car into reverse. The driver didn't even stop right away and came within inches of hitting us. The driver then took off and went around the corner not realizing we were following to get the plate number. The bus went back to where it was going, the police administration building by fort Vancouver on August 16 2025 roughly 5pm, to pick up their passenger. That's when I got a photo of the plate. In addition their busses don't have backup warning signals which I believe is a code violation.

Walked in to be seen for a serious Back issue and was sent limp walking home. No appointment no help? So I have to get all the way to a VA Medical Center itβs also set up wrong. Nothing is in the main building you have to go to separate buildings down the street. Good thing was the golf cart service saved me a long walk with the worst back pain Ever!

Another low grade for the VA in Vancouver...and most likely Portand, as well. Met my Primary Care for the first time and I was asked "So, what is going on?" I told the doctor of a few things that are causing me l a lot of difficulty...when I was informed that my appointment was for 15 minutes and only one issue could be addressed. Now, when I was 19 years old and sent overseas I never had an opportunity to question, dispute, or change my orders. I did what I was told. All GIs were promised excellent medical care for life via the VA. It was something I always kept in mind. Now that I am older I need their help I find the VA is now run like a cheap HMO. The Army lied to me, and the VA has failed me, and I know many other veterans who feel exactly the same. It will cost me money, but I am ditching the VA and their sub-standard care and obtain medigap insurance. And, today, October 15th is "Open Enrollment Day" to get what I hope is good coverage and better treatment. FTVA!

My wife and I have been staying at The Lodge, a kidney and liver recovery facility, for nearly 8 weeks. Iβve have nothing but positive things to say about my experience here including friendly staff from the front desk to the janitorial and maintenance staff. The facility has several community kitchens, itβs clean, comfortable and helps to facilitate healing. Iβm so grateful to the VA for providing me this opportunity for a kidney transplant and for the excellent medical care received from my transplant team and all the support staff. Much of my gratitude always comes before any complaint (of which, I have none). Thank you VA and thank you staff at The Lodge. You are appreciated! Ed Lucero
